Officially Gorillaz App by B-Reel

This project was selected in both the Digital – Apps and the Interactive Film & VR, Ar, MR categories in The Annual 2018, CR’s award scheme celebrating the best in commercial creativity

For the launch of Humanz, Gorillaz’ first album for seven years, B-Reel created a mobile app blending real world, augmented reality, virtual reality and 360 environments.

The immersive experience took users into the band’s house, exploring the rooms of each animated character. It also gave fans access to the #HumanzHouseParty, a geo-specific listening party where the full album could be heard at more than 500 locations from Tokyo to Santiago.

The app made use of WebVR and WebGL technologies, with environments created from scratch in Jamie Hewlett’s trademark style.
