Comic Relief: Swear Jar app by Grey London

This project was selected for the Digital – Apps category in The Annual 2018, CR’s award scheme celebrating the best in commercial creativity

For Comic Relief, the Swear Jar app caught people using bad language and automatically sent a donation to Comic Relief. The app was linked to the user’s bank account via PayPal, fining them 20p every time it detected that they had used bad language. It worked by using voice recognition technology from Google in ‘listening sessions’ which lasted for a maximum of ten minutes. Some 42 swear words were listed in the app.
